When CBS tried to film a beach with heavy oil on the shore in South Pass, Louisiana, a boat of BP contractors, and two Coast Guard officers, told them to turn around, or be arrested.

“This is BP’s rules, it’s not ours,” someone aboard the boat said. Coast Guard officials told CBS that they’re looking into it.

As the Coast Guard is a branch of the Armed Forces, it brings into question how closely the government and BP are working together to keep details of the disaster in the dark

Ramsey Clark will arrive in the Canadian oil-patch city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, this coming June 6^th and 7^th, mounting pressure on Judge Manfred Delong, who is presiding over the sentencing process in an epochal trial which some have dubbed: “The trial of Splitting the Sky versus George W. Bush.” Splitting the Sky (STS) on the advice of legal experts Ramsey Clark, Gale Davidson and Anthony J. Hall attempted a citizen’s arrest on George W. Bush on March 17, 2009 when the former US president was addressing an audience of business people at the TELUS Convention Centre in the downtown of Calgary. In his March 2010 trial STS invoked the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes legislation, which was enacted by the Canadian parliament in 2000, to submit to the court that he wasimplementing the law by seeking to apprehend Bush, and was unjustly arrested by police who were in effect “aiding and abetting a credibly accused war criminal.” Former US Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney came to Calgary to attempt to testify in the March trial but was prevented from doing so as the judge shut down the trial earlier than anticipated. Instead McKinney spoke at the University of Calgary in support of Splitting the Sky. It is hoped by supporters of justice that the arrival of Ramsey Clark in Calgary will help to publicize this unprecedented case in Canadian legal history, the knowledge of which the state and their media accomplices have made a concerted effort to suppress and censor from the public domain.

The Harper government has earned another black eye with environmental groups for taking issue with a proposed international ban on geoengineering.

“It hasn’t been one of my days as a proud Canadian,” said Molly Kane of the Montreal-based ETC Group.

Kane, currently in Nairobi for United Nations meetings, was shocked by Canada’s tactics late last week when, at the 11th hour, she said Canada broke rank with growing international support for a global moratorium on geoengineering experiments aimed at trying to cool the planet.

There is growing concern about geoengineering schemes, such as whitening clouds to reflect sunlight back into space and fertilizing the oceans to increase the amount of greenhouse gases sucked out of the atmosphere by algae.

Critics are calling for a moratorium on all such trials until international agreements and oversight mechanisms are in place.

According to Kane, Canada raised concerns that the proposed ban might impact carbon capture and storage projects, which Canada is hoping to use to reduce global warming emissions from Alberta’s oilsands.

The Canadian delegation to the Kenya-based meetings was led by Ole Hendrickson, a science adviser at Environment Canada. He could not be reached for comment and the department’s media office couldn’t provide information on the position Canada took.

Supporters of the moratorium are also calling for more openness about the geoengineering research underway in Canada and other countries.

“It’s common sense that we don’t go ahead with planet-altering technologies without international rules,” said Diana Bronson, also from ETC.

The proposed freeze was widely supported by the more than 100 countries attending the UN meeting in Nairobi, said Kane. She said Canada has, in effect, “blocked measures that many other countries worked all week to agree on.”

Kane expects Canada’s “tactics” could delay adoption of such a ban by dragging out discussions.

The proposed moratorium will be on the agenda again at UN meetings in Japan later this year.

Critics say one of the world’s richest men and his ‘cronies’ have no right to change our climate, Margaret Munro reports.

Billionaire Bill Gates is funding experiments to explore using “artificial” clouds to cool the planet.

Scientists say the experiments are in the early stages and confined to the lab, but critics say they are laying the groundwork for a trial to whiten clouds in a 10,000-square-kilometre patch of the Pacific Ocean.

“Bill Gates and his cloud-wrenching cronies have no right to unilaterally change our seas and skies,” says Jim Thomas of the Montreal-based ETC Group, part of an international coalition calling for a moratorium on geoengineering experiments.

Gates, one of the world’s richest men, has given $4.5 million to climate researcher David Keith of the University of Calgary and Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution for Science to fund research on planet-cooling ideas.

Caldeira says the money has gone to different researchers, including about $300,000 U.S. to researcher Armand Neukermanns, who is also involved with the Silver Lining Project, which is working on plans to run the world’s first cloud brightening trial.

The Silver Lining Project would use “cloud” ships to blast tiny droplets of sea water about a kilometre into the atmosphere in a bid to create bright white clouds to reflect sunlight back into space and cool the atmosphere.

“David Keith and I allocated funds to Armand Neukermanns to use laboratory experiments to establish whether it would be technically feasible to produce sea water sprays,” Caldeira says. He stresses that Gates’ money was not going directly to the Silver Lining field trial.

The distinction is lost on Thomas. If Neukermanns succeeds in designing a working spray, Thomas says the technology is likely to be used on the Silver Lining trial.

Robert Wood of the University of Washington is one of the scientists collaborating on the Silver Lining Project. He says the concept of whitening and brightening clouds has been around for years and is still unproven, but he and others say it may be one of the most benign ways of cooling the planet if governments cannot agree to cut the greenhouse gases warming the planet. Wood says he would much prefer to see emissions cut than resort to geoengineering.

À voir la réaction de certains de nos détracteurs, ils ont carrément eu la trouille de voir la Salle Marie-Guérin-Lajoie remplie à craquer de gens de tous les âges, étudiants, retraités, travailleurs et intellectuels, de la gauche et de la droite, tous venus pour s’informer sur l’évènement géopolitique qui a eu le plus d’impact dans le monde depuis la chute du mur de Berlin.

La chaire Raoul Dandurand

Voici donc que les usual suspects se manifestent et vont au front pour essayer de discréditer une conférence qui a été une réussite sur tous les points. En premier, les membres de la tour d’ivoire de la chaire Raoul Dandurand se sont offusqués de voir l’ »université du peuple », l’UQÀM, être associée à une telle conférence:

Julien Tourreille, who holds the Raoul-Dandurand chair in strategic and diplomatic issues, told Montreal media outlets that Truthers are intellectually dishonest.

« I think it’s a shame to see UQÀM’s name associated to such a movement, » Tourreille told Montreal newspaper La Presse last week. « It doesn’t help the credibility of a research institution that tries to demonstrate that it employs serious people. »

U.S. experts at other Quebec institutions, including Steven Saideman at McGill University and Louis Balthazar at Laval University, also spoke out in public against the conference.

Inutile de mentionner que mes taxes et les vôtres payent pour cette université publique; il est primordiale de pouvoir continuer à y organiser des conférences, que nous y soyons étudiants ou non, que l’on soit d’accord avec la prémisse de la-dite conférence ou non. Contrairement à un certain Julien Tourreille, nous croyons encore en l’importance de la liberté d’expression, un droit essentiel qui ne doit pas être réservé qu’aux élites académiques qui se font la chasse-gardée du zeitgeist post-9/11.

Évidemment, ce droit qui nous est si essentiel semble l’être moins pour la chaire Raoul Dandurand; en 2005:

«Je pense que la liberté d’expression est un droit fondamental, qu’il faut le protéger,mais ce n’est pas un droit absolu», explique Élisabeth Vallet [chercheuse à la chaire Raoul-Dandurand en études stratégiques et diplomatiques].

On commence à voir la ligne directrice qui se dessine, ici. Or, qui est Raoul Dandurand, au juste? Ancien Président de la Société des Nations, représentant du Canada à cette institution, sénateur Libéral et, selon le livre « Adrien Arcand, Führer canadien » (pp. 99-100), un proche de la communauté juive de Montréal. L’extrait de cet excellent livre:

La seconde assemblée des Jeune-Canada a lieu le 20 avril 1933. Elle s’est fixée pour but de réagir à une assemble de proteststion contre le nazisme, assemblée tenue quelques jours plus tôt par les Juifs de Montréal appuyés entre autres par des politiciens canadiens-français, dont Raoul Dandurand.

Le mouvement « 9/11 Truth » est souvent stigmatisé comme étant anti-sémite par ceux qui ce sentent souvent le plus menacés par la potentialité de l’effrondrement de l’ordre établi, un « lobby innommable » comme l’a si bien écrit l’un de nos lecteurs. Ai-je besoin encore d’expliquer la différence entre l’anti-sémitisme et l’anti-sionisme? Est-ce que la chaire Raoul Dandurand continue dans la même lançée que son fondateur et s’allie par défaut avec le lobby israëlien/juif, celui-ci étant opposé au 9/11 Truth Movement? Je suis bien conscient qu’il y a une marge entre les positions du fondateur dans les années ‘30 et l’état des faits maintenant, mais sachant que des fondations, chaires de recherche et des attributions de bourses comme le Rhodes Scholarship choisissent spécifiquement ses chercheurs et étudiants en fonction de leurs idéaux (mondialistes, dans ce dernier cas), n’est-il pas justifié de sérieusement se poser la question sur ce que ces gens influents ont derrière la tête? D’ailleurs, est-ce que la complicité d’Israël reste encore vraiment à prover par rapport au 11 septembre 2001? Cette affirmation est en opposion au sionisme, une idéologie extrêmiste qui marie la politique et la religion, mais qui n’a rien à voir avec une haine quelconque avec les peuples sémites. Aux réactionnaires du politiquement correct : vous pouvez vous rassoir, y’a pas le feu ici.

Ils étaient quelque 700 participants, lundi soir et encore hier, a être venus à l’UQÀM pour entendre deux Truthers américains les conforter dans leur conviction aberrante que George W. Bush, Dick Cheney et Donald Rumsfeld sont derrière les attentats du 11 septembre 2001. Remarquez, ils ne sont pas seuls. Près de 50% des Américains et 30% des Canadiens croient ces sornettes.

C’est une réalité de la nature humaine depuis la nuit des temps que les gens sont disposés à croire à n’importe quoi. Sinon, les créateurs d’horoscope, les diseuses de bonne aventure, et les vendeurs d’automobiles d’occasion ne prospéreraient pas. Le commun des mortels aime s’inventer de vastes et brumeuses conspirations alors que l’explication se trouve le plus souvent dans l’incompétence et la stupidité bornée des bureaucraties gouvernementales. Il faut dire qu’Hollywood et Internet, ces dernières années, poussent à la paranoïa et moussent les théories conspirationnistes.

Résumons la thèse des Truthers. Pour convaincre l’Amérique de partir en guerre contre l’Islam, l’administration Bush a décidé de détruire des édifices iconiques, symbole à la fois des États-Unis et du monde capitaliste en y plaçant secrètement des explosifs, tuant 3000 personnes et mettant cet abominable crime sur le dos d’Osama ben Laden et de ses amis, les héros des masses arabo-musulmanes.

Une telle conspiration est-elle possible? Non, et voici pourquoi.

Pour réaliser un complot d’une telle envergure, il faudrait compter sur la collaboration de milliers de personnes sur une période de plus d’un an. D’abord pour concevoir le plan et engager des gestionnaires. Ensuite pour acheter les explosifs et pendant des mois, les transporter secrètement au World Trade Center, où chaque nuit, des centaines de personnes se seraient activées à monter ces explosifs sur les étages et à les dissimuler habilement dans des endroits névralgiques sous la direction de spécialistes en démolition.

Pour soutenir ces opérateurs de première ligne, il aurait fallu aussi recruter des chauffeurs et des mécaniciens pour la flotte de camions, des employés d’entrepôts pour le stockage des explosifs et des autres matériaux requis, des comptables et des employés de bureau pour voir au paiement des factures, des salaires et des sous-traitants.

Pensez-vous vraiment que personne dans les services d’entretien ou de sécurité des tours n’aurait rien remarqué d’anormal. À moins qu’eux aussi fassent partie de la conspiration. Ajoutez alors quelques centaines d’initiés de plus au secret.

Pensez-vous vraiment que ces milliers de personnes auraient gardé le secret, se sachant complices d’un des plus grands crimes de l’Histoire. Personne n’aurait eu de remords, personne ne se serait vidé le cœur à un membre de sa famille, à sa femme. Personne n’aurait contacté un journaliste.

La vérité est que des personnes, auraient craqué et se seraient mises à parler provoquant un effet d’entrainement chez d’autres participants. Le secret aurait été éventé au bout de quelques semaines tout au plus. Après neuf ans, les rigolos Truthers n’ont jamais pu produire un seul participant, un seul complice parmi les milliers de personnes impliquées dans leur conspiration. Comme il est absurde de penser que l’administration Bush aurait pu convaincre 19 fanatiques musulmans de venir sacrifier leur vie simplement pour impliquer al-Qaeda dans l’attentat. Et d’ailleurs Ben Laden lui-même, à plusieurs occasions, a revendiqué la responsabilité de l’attentat. Mais, me diront les Truthers, c’est que Ben Laden lui-même un agent de la CIA. Et moi, ma grand-mère a des roulettes.

Si vous croyez ces balivernes, vous êtes sans doute de ceux qui croient aussi que les Américains ne sont jamais allés sur la lune et que tout cela a été tourné dans les studios de la MGM à Hollywood.

Administrators at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQÀM) say they will develop a formal policy for outside groups renting campus space for events after a controversial lecture about 9/11 drew fire by academic staff.

But the French-language university defended its right to have contentious speakers lecture on campus as part of free speech, saying it was appropriate to debate ideas, as long as events don’t incite riots.

The Monday night lecture, hosted by World for 9/11 Truth, drew about 700 people who came to hear from two U.S. academics who deny the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks were carried out by terrorists.

The researchers – David Ray Griffin and Richard Gage – believe the U.S. government played a major role in orchestrating the deadly attacks on New York City’s Twin Towers and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Griffin and Gage are lobbying for an independent inquiry into the attacks, which killed 3,000 people. Their theories – part of the self-titled Truthers movement that formed after Sept. 11 – have been repeatedly discounted by scientists and civil engineering experts.

U.S. experts at UQÀM upset

Some professors at the school argue conspiracy theories have no place at UQÀM.

Julien Tourreille, who holds the Raoul-Dandurand chair in strategic and diplomatic issues, told Montreal media outlets that Truthers are intellectually dishonest.
