Le 17 mars 2009, à Calgary, en Alberta, le militant Mohawk “Splitting the Sky” a rempli son devoir civique en agissant dans le respect de la loi avec une intégrité scintillante - il a tenté d’arrêter l’ancien Président des États-Unis, George W. Bush, soupçonné avec raison d’être un criminel de guerre. Armé des principes de Kaianereh’ko:wa (la Grande Loi) STS a démontré sa loyauté à ces principes. Il a été arrêté et accusé d’obstruction à la justice; sa comparution devant un tribunal est prévue pour le 8 mars 2010 à Calgary, en Alberta.
L’ancien procureur des É-U, Ramsey Clark, ainsi que l’ancienne représentante au Congrès de l’état de la Georgie, Cynthia McKinney, ont accepté de témoigner en sa faveur lors du procès. L’un des principaux auteurs sur le 11 septembre 2001, le Dr David Ray Griffin, a fourni une déclaration sous serment de dix-huit pages, qui sera lue devant la cour. En plus, l’ancien diplomate canadien, professeur à la retraite de l’université de Berkeley en Californie, et écrivain politique, Peter Dale Scott, a aussi accepté de venir témoigner en sa faveur, si requis.

STS est un militant qui lutte depuis longtemps pour que justice soit rendue aux premières nations de l’Amérique. Son nom Mohawk, Dacajeweiah, traduit en anglais, est Splitting the Sky (Fendre-le-Ciel). Il est né à Buffalo, dans l’état de New York, son nom de colonisé est John Boncore; il est aussi connu en tant que John Hill. Il a été arraché à sa mère à l’âge de sept ans, après le décès de son père âgé de 23 ans et de trois autres Indiens Mohawks dans un accident industriel. Le tout jeune John Boncore a survécu plusieurs années dans les foyers d’adoption et les centres de détention de la jeunesse de l’état de New York, où il a subi de nombreux sévices.
La Rébellion d’Attica: 1971 — Splitting the Sky avait 19 ans quand il a été arrêté pour le vol d’un sandwich et envoyé à la prison d’Attica, New York, 16 jours avant la “rébellion infâme” qui eut lieu à cet endroit. Les émeutiers exigeaient de meilleures conditions de vie, entre autres demandes. À l’époque, on ne donnait aux détenus qu’une seule douche par semaine et un rouleau de papier de toilette par mois. Le 9 septembre 1971, en réaction à la mort de George Jackson, un prisonnier radical noir abattu le 21 août précédent par les gardiens de la prison de San Quentin en Californie alors qu’il était armé et tentait de s’évader, environ 1,000 des 2,200 prisonniers de la prison en ont saisi le contrôle, et y prirent en otage trente-trois gardiens. L’état entama alors des négociations avec les prisonniers.
Pendant les quatre jours suivants, les autorités ont accepté 28 des demandes des prisonniers,mais ont refusé d’accorder une amnistie complète des poursuites criminelles relevant de l’émeute, ou de remplacer le surintendant d’Attica. Sous l’ordre du gouverneur
d’alors, Nelson Rockefeller, la police de l’état a repris le contrôle de la prison. Au moins 39 personnes périrent, dont dix officiers correctionnels et employés au civil. Splitting The Sky fut le seul prisonnier accusé d’avoir assassiné un officier de police.
Confrontation au Lac Gustafsen: 1995 — En juin 1995, des personnes indigènes du peuple Secwepemc (Shuswap) ainsi que d’autres premières nations ont occupé des terres sacrées pour y célébrer la Danse du Soleil à TsPeten en Colombie Britannique (se prononce “che peten”) connu comme le Lac Gustafsen en anglais, près de 100 Mile House, en Colombie Britannique. L’occupation à TsPeten fait partie d’une longue suite de tentatives pour faire reconnaître la souveraineté Secwepemc par le gouvernement du Canada, dans le cadre d’une campagne pour les droits des indigènes aux terres non-cédées en Colombie Britannique.
La confrontation a débuté lorsque fut rompu un accord précédent pour y tenir des danses du soleil datant de 1989, qui avait été conclu avec l’éleveur de bétail Lyall James, lequel avait juridiction sur la terre de la Couronne. Quelques autochtones choisirent alors de rester au Lac Gustafsen et de continuer à y tenir leurs danses annuelles du soleil, en dépit des menaces d’expulsion de la part de Lyall James, et à affirmer ainsi les droits des indigènes sur leur terre. Dans une des plus vastes opérations de police dans l’histoire du Canada, la Gendarmerie Royale a déployé quatre cents membres tactiques de l’équipe d’attaque, appuyés par cinq hélicoptères, deux avions de surveillance, et neuf véhicules blindés. La police a tiré plus de 77,000 projectiles lors de cette confrontation qui dura 31 jours. Par miracle, seule une femme fut blessée, ainsi qu’un chien tué. Le procureur général de la Colombie Britannique, Ujjal Dosanjh, a déclaré que l’occupation n’était qu’une affaire strictement criminelle, en refusant de considérer les négociations politiques. Splitting thé Sky a heureusement survécu pour pouvoir parler de l’expérience.

I read about the efforts by a lawyers’ group in Canada who tried to stop Bush from being admitted into Canada because of his war crimes. It was disappointing that this effort wasn’t successful. When one sees the tremendous amount of suffering that Bush has caused, and the assortment of human rights violations that he’s responsible for, it’s hard to see how anybody could deny that Bush is a war criminal. I wish Splitting the Sky all the best in his court case.
I live in Calgary and never heard anything in the regular media about the heroic act of Splitting The Sky. The powers that be obviously kept it out of the news. I hope that the trial of Splitting The Sky will be covered by the media but I doubt it! My admiration,respect and good wishes go out to Splitting The Sky in his future battles.

We should ALL do what Splitting the Sky tried alone to do — we should ALL push through the police protection en masse to arrest Bush or Cheney wherever they may appear in public, to the extent and with the persistence that they could not stop and arrest us all! And, we should not stand down in this repeated and repeated AND REPEATED act of absolute respect for and insistence on the law of decency until our insistence on the trial of our shameless oppressors is acceeded to. We must back up our brother, brave Splitting-the-Sky all the way to justice and liberation!
Canadian law mandates any suspected war criminal be arrested on entry to Canada. It’s the law. Those who fail to enforce this law, from ministers (prime ones too) to prosecutors having jurisdiction, to national and municipal police officers, all are in violation of the law.
To think that Bush would be lead away in shackles is just plain crazy. No, not by a fellow member of ‘The Coalition of the Coerced’. The fact that he wasn’t arrested justifies citizen action, the fact that a citizen was arrested for taking action is just plain irony. The criminals arresting law enforcement, the new normal.
The Obstruction of Justice charge is yet another orwellian juxtaposition. Who’s justice was obstructed? This is akin to being charged with assaulting a peace officer because you raised an arm to deflect a truncheon.
Support for Splitting the Sky shouldn’t be limited to dollars. Contribute with your time, call in sick, go to court next March 8. There must be thousands of like-minded individuals in Calgary alone. If even ten percent assembled in solidarity, any fair-minded judge would have to recognize the legitimacy of civil action. The picture of the laughing pinheads and uniformed goons should also help, considering the context.

Interesting to see how even the Canadian media, particularly CanWest publications such as The Gazette in Montreal, continue to censor (i.e., not publish) any comments which present proof that 9/11 was an inside job implemented by the US military and intelligence agencies, possibly with the assistance of the Mossad.
Yet they will post numerous comments and ad hominem attacks which are derisive of 9/11 truth researchers, but which do not provide any facts to support their dismissive remarks.
Obviously, they are trying to fight a rear-guard action against the increasing doubt of the world about the “official” 9/11 fractured fairy tale.
Their lies, obfuscation, misrepresentation and gross omissions are part of the reason why the mainstream media has lost its credibility, and why newspapers and American TV news chains continue to lose their audiences.
Fewer and fewer believe their lies.
The courageous act of Splitting the Sky should be the tip of the iceberg, the start of creating a tidal wave of resistance to the tyrannies of the evil ones hiding behind their false gaurd of compliant, co-conspiratorial “law” enforcement. When the rule of law is being usurped, it is the duty of all citizens to resist. Should that we all be able to summon the courage this brave and noble warrior for truth and justice has shown, and take actions of our own.
Dacajeweiah (Splitting the Sky) doesn’t have jurisdiction in Canada. So he is not entitled to arrest criminals of any kind. Unfortunately this is the crucial fact. Taking the law into one’s own hands is no good, and I don’t see the point in doing it even as mere street theatre.
I admit that Dacajeweiah (Splitting the Sky) demonstrates that the law enforcement doesn’t work when it comes to Bush and his ilk. Moreover, it is almost unthinkable that any prosecutor in this world will ever order his arrest. We all know that if any prosecutor fulfilled that duty, his/her career would immediately come to an end. It would even be considered a “scandal”, “political activism” and an insult to the U.S.
The core members of the criminal Bush cabinet has of course from the outset understood that this is how it works, that they can kill 3000 of their own citizens (911) and one million Iraqis with impunity.
Correction, I have full jurisdiction in this country as my family tree is from Six Nations in Brantford Ontario.

I’ve had mixed feelings about this . Although STS see’s me as a CSIS agent or what ever he’s saying about me these days..dosnt matter to me. If we were buds (and we are not) I would have advised him or better still tried to stop him from getting arrested. I want so very much to see George W. Bush face war crimes as much as most on this page but not at the risk of injury to himself and especially to the risk he put the officers in and public who were close to the take down.
All this has accomplished is excitement and a lot of hope with-in the choir activist movementsand very little to nothing in the main stream media and to Canadians in general.
Along with the several suggestions I sent to STS including removing the malicious Jack Blood interviews August 13th broadcast that will be of no benifit to any one… I also suggested to STS to round up the truthers in Cowtown and get the STS message out to as many Calgarians as possible (like Civil Information Activism we do in Edmonton) It will better serve STS and the 9/11 truth movement to educate citizens as what could be a historical day in court come March no one should miss. I suggested using Nathan Moulton’s video coverage and mass producing hundreds of DVDs along with leaflets at hand this stuff out at every busy corner in Calgary. If he wasnt so bent on shutting me down in the 9/11 truth movement (and has accomplished) he might have had two cities in Alberta civil informationing the masses with this historical case… I guess anger gets the best of us sometimes , and we just cant see the forrest for the trees .

I will spread the word of your heroic action, every single soul that died unjustly will be next to you supporting you and giving you the strength you will need for pursuing your righteous course.
A part from spreading the word with my acquaintance I will also write to Noam Chomsky, everything I have heard and read from him goes into the direction of your attempt to arrest GWB. He can justify that in the most scholastic way ever.
Even though he doesn’t admit publicly that the official 911 story is a sham, in my view he doesn’t want to bother hindering his credibility on something he cannot prove where he has plenty of arguments to bring to trial GWB and friend 100 times already. He will not back down on GWB being a war criminal, as he has never back pedalled in 50 years, I am sure that he will at least speak to his huge audience about you and your action.
I encourage everybody to write to him, he has a large audience and this could be the only way to spur followers of your noble action: chomsky@mit.edu (chomsky at mit.edu).
I owuld also suggest getting in touch with Ward Churchill, if he isn’t aware of this yet. I terms of native American cause Ward is the man.
Norman Finkelstein is also a great consistent scholar and he would certainly back your claim too.
It would also be the case of contacting a couple of internet media like Democracy Now etc… I personally came across this story only because I read a comment on youtube, is there a footage of your action so that we can upload it?
I know Chomsky and Finkelstein are Jew, but I encourage everybody to avoid any sort of generalisation, as 1 righteous man can save all of humanity, as an example, Jesus was Jew too. I truly believe that, if something will ever be done, it will come from the inside, a military coup or something of that sort, yet other human beings on the other side of the fence need to see such examples, and in greater number, to open their eyes.
There are many unknown or future heroes out there, my thoughts go with them too.
